The definition of European House music, absolute classic. Fell in love with this way back when and it still brings me out in goose-bumps.

A choice tune. One with picture covers getting harder to find. Some crop up from Italy, so have to pay that bit extra on postage and VAT.

Edited 3 years agoLast Rhythm from 1990 encapsulated a lot of what was most beautiful of a beautiful time.
Everyone loved it.
The name Last Rhythm turned out to be pretty accurate in a way, sadly. The summer of 1990 for myself and a lot of people was the last of the three or four consecutive great, beautiful summers. For me the beautiful era continued through the years 91 and 92, though just winding down.
I guess I was kind of aware that Last Rhythm was kind of like a message, beautiful, full of joy, with some sadness at the same time.
I'm enjoying the Afro Dub just now, with its 86-88 Chicago style bassline. It's from 91. The mixes went on for years, happily, as people tried to extend the last rhythm as long as possible. 😊 😢
Sometimes I got really into the vocal mixes but the original and dub versions are where the classic track is. The vocal mixes were kind of so different, of a different vibe, they seemed to require a very different kind of set to be skillfully worked into.
Salute to this particular piece of paradise we were lucky enough to be given. -
It's never really occurred to me before until very recently, to time the tracks on this record. Not only are the durations quite a bit off between the ones stated on the label and this release page. But the Club Mix of the copy of this exact same pressing is off by a good 20 seconds between my copy and what is stated on this page. I've calibrated and adjusted my turntable correctly, it is as accurate as it's going to get. Running time on release page is 6:02 and 6:25 on my copy.
Classic, anyway. These early versions without any vocals are what it's all about for me. You need this if you haven't got it already. 1990 was a great year for music, even for the mellower productions. More quality and less cheese for your buck, compared to a couple or more years down the line. -
Pure class, an all time anthem.
Huge tune back in its day, that just rocked everywhere where it was played.
This track just has all the right elements, crafted together to perfection, creating such a happy chilled summer vibe.
As other people have said forget the vocal mixes and head for the Original Club or Dub mixes.
This really was one of the seminal tracks of its day and still sounds amazing today. -
anthem alert!! the "ambient version" will be on young marcos forthcoming compilation "Welcome To Paradise: Italian Dream House 1989-93 Vol 2: " Out on March 20. make sure to check out that selection, high quality stuff only.

Superb original version (ignore the vocal remixes) of this classic italian house track that borrows a few subtle elements from Joe Smooth's 'Promised Land'. Beautifully produced, this balearic masterpiece still sounds invigorating today - a staggering 17 years later! Although I was too young to this being played out in the clubs at the time, I am fortunate to have a few live recordings that encom the impact of this great tune from the likes of Shelly's in Stoke & Quadrent Park in Liverpool.

Edited 20 years agoWhat can i say? Seminal track in the history of house music, a bonified end of the night floor-filler. Also good for breaking down a set when you need a cup of tea (or something stronger!). Re-released, remixed & bootlegged into house fokelore. Nice one.
