Notes
Rogue Trooper Records 1994.
From label:
Shouts to Peter, Adam, Tony, Lucy, DJ Mister-E and especially Patricia Berry and Robin. Special thanx to Tom Orton.
Track AA1 samples:
Vocal from Pamela Fernandez - Kickin' In The Beat
Track AA2 samples:
Vocal from Gene Page - Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
Bleeps from Jam & Spoon - Stella (Remix)
From the inserted reaction sheet:
Following hot on the heels of Dark Love, Rogue Trooper present Sub-State. Sub-State is the brainchild of one Jack Berry who already boasts a pretty impressive recording history. A - We Got It is a humungously uplifting piece of happy hardcore with a glorious piano breakdown that'll have dancefloors screaming with joy. AA1 - Higher continues in much the same vein...more serious drump programming and uplifting breakdowns. AA2 - Move completes this essential EP. If happy hardcore is your bag then you cannot afford to be without this vinyl in your box. Charts and reactions back ASAP please. Regards and respect, all at DBM.

Got this!
Released in late '94 when the happier side had already become 4-beat and jungle and DnB was in full swing.
"You Got It" is a slightly happier affair and the two on AA "Higher" and "Move" are more on the jungle side of the spectrum - all tracks still have that early-mid '94 vibe!
A must buy!! <3 <3 <3 <3 -

"ohhhhh we got it! ohhhh we got it!" bout a million miles an hour! then come the pianos! woop woop! -

Edited 12 years agoA rather unusual dark sound, especially on AA side (Move) by happy hardcore producer Sub-State, which is definitely not happy hardcore. In my eyes or better in my ears, it is a pure junglistic sound. Nonetheless, all three tracks are top notch. Worth buying if you are a jungle/drum+ bass fan. Baaaaaaam!!!!
