The Invisible Man – The Bell Tune / The Tone Tune

Absolutely stunning 12'' Both sides are wicked. Got this around 1994 not long after I started properly buying records and started DJing. Still play it regularly which is testament to just how amazing both tracks are.
Weirdly never heard anyone play the Tone tune back then, only the Bell Tune.

If you listen to the 1993/4 Bukem sets where he drops the Bell Tune you'll notice that the one he had is slightly different and sadly better IMHO. Always the way... just that bit more tearing and hyper, esp when it properly lets off towards the end...
Apparently it's an unfinished version but prefer it to the final release (probably because I can't have it :)
Would love that one to surface one day.

The Bell tune, another absolute classic, way way ahead of its time. A very influential early atmospheric tune.
The rumour goes that this was made before LTJ's Music, but had to wait for its release until after.

The Bell Tune is a quality tune. This release slightly reminds me of Peshay's "Piano Tune". This is probably the release that kicked off the intelligent jungle era.

As mentioned before, this release oozes quality. I actually prefer The Tone Tune with its sinister eerie and edgy sound. It's the bollocks!

Here's another classic that needs a review. I first heard of the Invisible Man on a Timeless Recordings release from 93' - The Beginning/The End (DJG 006). That 12 is still regarded as a very influential breakbeat recording. Although released the next year, this release is no different. The Bell Tune is the standout track here. That bell on the intro still gets me every time. I'd love to know what the inspiration was for starting the track out in this way. Once the track gets going, there's plenty of nicely stuttered snares backed with a hard, pounding bass line. The layers and the production are immaculate, giving polish to a very underrated D n B classic. A real heavyweight tune that I still spin regularly. If you don't have this, you should have.
