Should Australian "Parlophone" and "Columbia EMI" releases manf' & dist in australia by "EMI Australia" just have parlophone or columbia emi as the label with "made by emi australia" in the notes (considering EMI group is the parent label) or should both labels be listed at the top? they only have one cat# that seems to match their respective labels more so than EMI Australia.
    cheers

    Personally I'd add both.

You know my opinion already... There are also quite a number of Capitol Records (Australia) releases that are ‘Manufactured and distributed by EMI (Australia) Limited’. Some of them have the label just as EMI Music (Australia), some of them have Capitol Records (Australia), and some have both - which I think is best as all info is covered.

I think a lot of people would agree but no longer Nik who says that regardless of who released it, the only thing that matters is the logo. Add EMI and you are likely to get a SCR filed against you and then a instruction to ignore the RSG when it comes to labels....go figure. Its causing some confusion out there as per this thread. Some mods are approving these things, some are not, and some are sitting on the fence.

A request for clarification has had no response so I guess we wait.

EMI Australia will shortly be able to be added to a second field and then I guess there wil be a flurry of changes as large parts of the major label pages are reassigned in edits..probably almost 100% of things like PolyGram Australia.

does that include releases by festival, that usually have the original labels artwork but a festival cat#

Just been talking to Nik now, I think the Festival page stays as per note at top until the changes happen, then we can resolve that with the new field. One thing I think pretty much every Australasian mod agrees is that it would be silly to break up the Festival page.
