I have a cd with the following codes:

    Matrix / Runout 2564693306 6181014610 [SM logo]
    [610 end]

Looking at : OZ version of Enya's And Winter Came...
    Enya - And Winter Came...

Codes are as follows: [710 ending]
    Matrix / Runout (Variant 1): 2564693306 6181014710 SM
    Matrix / Runout (Variant 2): 2564693306 6181014710 SM

    And under the LCCN:
    Pressed By – SM – 6181014710

Do I have a variant or a new version.

It's a topic I've seen mentioned in the history of other releases, but there seems to be no agreement so far on the best approach.

    Thanks.

If the matrix is the only variation and it is the same comapny then currently that is just a variant

oh hey. thanks for the reply. since then i read the numerous! threads on this one.

you still get people in the histories arguing they should be different releases
it was very confusing knowing how to handle this now i do has you say, its a variant.
and i dont add a code to the LCCN to stop confusion.

looks like this one has been raging for a few years going by the many threads.

    thanks again for replying

Indeed there is some contention on this one, I can see both sides of the argument. I don't think they should be seperated until the database has some functionality added to make it easier to distinguish the differences without reading pages of history logs.
