Record-Breaking 105 Million Records Added to Collections Worldwide in 2024
Discogs, the world’s leading music discovery and record collecting platform, is thrilled to share that our cataloged over 105.7 million records in 2024, marking a record-breaking milestone in music-collecting history.
An average of 2 million vinyl records, CDs, cassettes, and more were added to Discogs Collections every week — a testament to Discogs’ pivotal role in global music culture.
To put it into perspective, if each item were given a seat at London’s O2 Arena, one of the world’s busiest music venues, it would take 26 years of sold-out shows to fit them all.
For nearly 25 years, Discogs has been the go-to platform for collectors to organize, track, and value their music collections. Since its inception, more than 830 million items have been cataloged, with 2024 pushing the community past 750 million items milestone in total collections.
Discogs is the only platform that can envision collection trends – not just record consumption – in their entirety because fans are coming here to catalog records they discovered across the entire music landscape.
Our statistics paint a very important picture: vinyl culture is thriving now more than ever before.
“Reaching 105.7 million records cataloged marks a significant moment for record collecting culture. Each record represents a deliberate choice — to hold a record in your hands, to own it, to listen to it with intention. Discogs continues to exist because people care deeply about music as something tangible and meaningful. This collection milestone reflects a global community driven deeply by ion, connection, and an unwavering commitment to the music that shapes their lives.” said Jeffrey Smith, Discogs’ Vice President of Marketing.
Discogs is where collectors go to research music, track their collections, understand their value, and stay connected to the music they love.
