Edited 4 months agoI've sat with this pressing for a while and am confident in saying this is probably the best stereo version to own.
I have a one box -1/-1 UK, and several -2/-2 UK. Both are very popular and usually well regarded. To me the differences between the UK versions are minimal, but the -2/-2 is probably more consistent and in line with what most people would prefer. But I do prefer the -1/-1 overall as it sounds very enveloping and has more immediacy. This German pressing though (A2/B2) is absolutely fantastic. It's not that far above everything else but it's better in every regard to what I have to compare. The bass is tight but feels realistic, the vocals have the least sibilance and are still very forward, the drums sound more impactful, and the guitars have bite but don't overdo it. I cannot recommend this enough. However it is a bit pricey at the moment for a clean one so if you can find a clean UK for a good price then you'll definitely be happy with it. To me though this is well worth the price.
EDIT: Got a stamped A1/B1 German, pretty sure it's DMM as the grooves look distinct and the matrices match up with the DMM pressings. Anyway, it sounds very fun. I wouldn't call it balanced. But it can be quite enjoyable sometimes. And people aren't lying when they call it the "big bass" cut cause this has SO MUCH bass. In my opinion it's too much most of the time. However my biggest issue is how it treats the vocals. It has much more sibilance compared to the other pressings and often they just sound very thin. It's very dynamic but the A2/B2 is much more natural and a far more pleasant listen overall. -
Are this and the other German version the only ones with Apple logo on cover and label, and what was the story behind?

Edited 2 years agothis was my favorite Beatles LP growing up, but ive never had a 14 track version before. after all the hype ive heard surrounding this pressing, i spent the better part of a year tracking down a fairly clean and affordable copy.
i must say that im not all that impressed with the sound of it. it does sound really really good, but i just did a side-by-side comparison with a NM USA Capitol Stereo pressing from the 60s that ive had for quite a few years. to my ears, there really isnt much of a difference at all. the only significant difference that i can tell is this German pressing was cut at a much quieter volume level. other than that, there really isnt any difference outside of the amount of tracks on each version. they actually kind of sound identical and i probably couldnt tell the difference in a "blind" test.
i'll say it again- it does sound really good. but dont believe all the hype about this sounding infinitely better than any previous pressing, at least when compared to an OG US pressing. -
Well, this is hands down the best sounding Revolver. It's as good as famous hyped Horzu MMT.
Just get it if you see it, the album really shines with new colors, you'll be surprised.
That's how revolution in the world of rock music supposed to sound.
I have UK -2/-2 original with early stampers and 2014 reissue, but this is honestly so much better. -

As good as my 2014 mono of this sounds from the box, this one sounds even better. New depths in a recording I know so well.
Owning them both along with the German pressing of MMT in true stereo feels like the last infinity stone in my collection. -
Fantastic stereo-mixed rock'n'roll album from The Fabs. Incredible fidelity, detail & punch, with a stereo sound-stage to die for. Some sweet psychedelic vocal placement as well. Vinyl itself is dead-silent. One of the best sounding Beatles LPs I have ever heard.
