Edited 3 years agoGreat sonics on the TML lacquer. Very open and airy, especially on Racing. Nice wide soundstage. Excellent balance of all the instruments. Lacks some of the punch that the Japanese first pressing has and late 70s US vinyl leaves quite a bit to be desired compared to the Japanese counterparts. But this still remains tops in my book for Darkness. The 2014 remasters are good in many respects but introduced sibilance in the vocals of several songs (Darkness and Racing in particular). This one gets right to that edge but pulls back before it gets bad. But it's hard to find a clean copy of this pressing...this refers to a runout similar to Variant 1 but with T 1F, 2H (associated with the Santa Maria WLP entry).
