Where as some Stereo versions of Beatles Japanese pressed albums can be a bit Bass shy, and that’s only some of the stereo, not all. I haven't come across a Mono Beatles album with that denotation. My 1982 Red Mono is Near Mint, dead quiet, and full spectrum of sound. I collect many different versions of Revolver, and present, own 3 Japanese pressings of Revolver as well as other Beatles imports. The Stereo UK and German 70's pressings are fantastic. This 82 Japanese Mono holds its own and sets nicely amongst the 2014 and 2022 Mono Reissues.

Edited one year agoOnly repeating what has already been said below. Insanely quiet pressing - and I mean dead-quiet / zero background groove noise. Bass is way more prevalent, and if you can switch your preamp to mono, you get the full experience, as originally intended. The lolly-red translucent vinyl also looks amazing. Save your $$, as this will be worth big $$ in years to come.

Agree with the below. I have the 2014 mono and this one just smokes it. Highly recommended if you are willing to part with $200+ … for me, totally worth it.

Edited 2 years agoCan anyone add the runout matrices to this listing? Looking for a surefire way to identify this pressing from the red '86 LP (besides the OBI.) Thanks in advance!

First time I put this on I was shocked at the volume levels. Things don’t sound overblown at all, it’s just powerful. The guitars and drums have bite, the bass is thumping and there’s still space in the mono mix to breathe. Tomorrow Never Knows sounds especially massive. Seems like a definitive version of this watershed album to own, and the red Odeon vinyl is gorgeous!

Edited 2 years agoWhile this is a fantastic pressing. It is not from the original mono master. It was mastered from a tape taken directly from the original master.
The booklet in the 2014 Mono box has the logs from EMI showing the masters that were made for the 1982 and 1986 Japanese pressings.
Listening setup:
Micro Seiki DD-40
Stanton 681EEE
McIntosh MX110
Marantz 8B
Altec Lansing 604D -
I find myself playing this album over the 2014 mono Revolver. I should probably compare and contrast, but it sounds perfect enough that I don't even bother. If you can get a copy in fabulous condition, don't hesitate. A+

This pressing bites in a way you can’t stream. Guitar tone on taxman sounds like tearing paper- amazing. Very hot pressing (apparently from the original UK mono masters). Only version of this record you need IMO.
