For their second collaboration, Moderat go for the simple title of II. And although the album starts simply enough too, with the ambient intro "The Mark," "Bad Kingdom" brings a zoo-like energy to bear while the moody breaks of "Versions" show off their thoughtful side. Indeed, the slow layers of "Let In The Light" show off a slower side that's picked up later in "Gita." The steady groove of the longer "Milk" lends a meditative note to the album, which carries into "Therapy," and a touch of darkness creeps into "Ilona." A melancholy romanticism hangs over "Damage Done" and lingers into "This Time." And, in a surprising move, the final track, "Last Time" has an almost pop sensibility. But overall, it's a more measured, thoughtful shift beyond their first album. And that's a great thing.

The packaging of this release is so great. I like the material it is made from, it seems like it will never break or tear.
And great album from Moderat!
