After two years apart, and "Chaka Khan" finding more success with her Solo career (with the release of "What Cha' Gonna Do For Me"), "Rufus & Chaka Khan" (now named "Rufus with Chaka Khan"), came back together to release, "Camouflage"...

Well, it's ok, but with everything that was happening, it just felt like that "Rufus Continuity" was almost gone...There are some nice pieces though...

"Better Together" (written by "Tony Maiden" and "Lalomie Washburn"), was a nice group gesture, but no one believed it...

"David "Hawk" Wolinski" and "John Robinson" served up "Music Man (The D.J. Song)", which brings the group kind of back to their danceable selves....

I agree with "REENO"...The best songs on here are "Secret Friend" and "Highlight", which involved "Bobby Watson", along with "Rene Moore" and "Angela Winbush"....This seemed to start a serious Writing and Producing association between "Bobby", "Rene" and "Angela" on the side, and it would be fruitful for "Rene & Angela's" album, "Street Called Desire"....

I'm sorry, but the rest of the album is filler to me....That is really sad to me...This is one of my favorite groups, and it was hard for me to see this....Be that as it may be, if you find a copy, it's still worth having (if you want).......

Sorry I didn't investigate this album much earlier....recorded the same year as Quincy's "The Dude" and Rene & Angela's "Wall to Wall" (in fact, they co-wrote a few songs here and contributed vocals and keys)--All of Quincy's players are here, including master engineer Bruce Swedien.
Sounds stellar of course. Some songs are very good, some just average, but the standout is "Mr. Music" for me. The moog bass on this is so prominent, it deserves a place in the "best synth bass" song list.

"Higlight" is another standout, and written by Rene & Angela.

This album finished off their MCA contract.."Sharing the love "was the single. It's an all around great album but doesn't have a killer track..The next label Warner Brothers.. that session would include Ain't Nobody.
