Fun bubble gum dance classic. Captain Jack is upbeat and timeless. Right up there with Vengaboys.

Edited 12 years agoI must say that listening to Captain Jack when I was 10 was really cool. Of course, 12 years after, it sounds rather silly. If I analyze it from a mature point of view..."The Mission" doesn't stand a chance. But If I go back to the time when I was a kid, I could say that it was an interesting album. Military shouts were something new and fun and the female vocals worked surprisingly well with those. In the end it was eurodance as we all knew it, but it had that extra spice.
Besides the hits "Captain Jack" and "Drill Instructor", there are other nice tracks as well. "Soldier Soldier" and "Back Home" are both harmless summer songs that may put a smile on your face.
However, what I find best about this album is a track called "Captain's Dream (Instrumental Mix)". This is an EXCELLENT song, a little reminescent of Angelo Badalamenti's Twin Peaks Theme. Yes, it's a quality atmospheric song, even by serious standards.
But... that's about it. Judging this album having in mind the time when it was released, I would rate it -3/5
