This pressing sounds excellent, and it’s one of the few records in my collection that really feels and sounds “analog”. I haven’t looked into the source of the lacquer/metalwork myself, but my ears tell me mcgjohn is right— this seems like a great way to get a “UK pressing” on high quality Japanese vinyl.

yes, quite true. Some of the Beatles Japan pressings have Toshiba lacquer cutting from the Capitol US issues, while others have the superior Hayes Middlesex, EMI lacquer cutting. This catalog number of LIB has the EMI UK lacquer cutting. Its one of the best sounding LIB issues you can get.

Edited 3 years agoOne thing is for sure, this pressing has plenty of bottom end, same with my 1970 Japanese Abbey. Maybe the Japanese started to cut the bass later into the 70's. Let It Be will never compare to Abbey Road for SQ because of the live recordings, but this still sounds great and the charm of the circumstance more than makes up for the (on some tracks) sub-optimal sound. The IGD on Maggie Mae, paired with the low effort recording on that tune to begin with, makes for an absolutely hilarious track. Overall, I think this album is a piece of history, and now with Get Back on Disney+, there is a contemporary reason for this sometimes dismissed album to be considered a must-have for classic rock lovers.
