Some historical info regarding the original Stan Ricker pressings printed below by someone in the know:
There are at least 2 cuts he did. You can tell by slight differences in the groove layout on the LPs. One actually sounds a bit better than the other. The groove spacing is a bit wider, so the LPs end a bit closer to the label and they're cut about 2 dB louder. It's most noticeable on side 3 (the concerto). You do need a good tracking cart/stylus to avoid IGD, but they do sound nice. The louder cut overwhelms the surface noise and adds a bit of punch to the sound. I have over a dozen copies of OOTB and only 2 are this "alternate" cut. But they do have SR/2 on all 4 sides (written smaller because the runout section is smaller). As the story goes, Jeff and the band hand delivered the master tapes to Stan for the vinyl mastering. (He was so impressed that Stan then also cut "Discovery" and is credited as "Stan The Man".)
This blue original pressing the the wider groove loud cut so enjoy!! -

Probably the most commercially successful E.L.O album of general opinion and it is certainly a classic packed with great songs from start to finish. Almost no fillers at all. Probably the last great E.L.O album.
