Edited one year agoI've read a lot of comments of people stating that RSD was not very exciting this year (2024). I tend to completely (but respectfully) disagree as I think that this was one of the most interesting RSD so far... although one had to know what to look for. From my point of view, as I knew what to expect from this particular release when it comes to the content, this is one of the highlights of RSD 2024. As dmay26 says in another comment here (and he is right), some versions here are as good as, if not better than, the ones who made the original release. Let's say it's the 'stripped' other and people who wanted no other versions should definitely hear these ones and judge by themselves. I can also only recommend to buy the box set if you still have the chance.

One of the better sounding vinyl pressings I’ve heard in quite a while. And the music itself is beyond divinity and infinity; cosmic freaky country-folk-funk at its finest. The songs are groovier and more muscular in these versions, without the big production overdubs that came later. I’d even go so far as to say some of them even outshine their released LP counterparts. The funk version of “Silver Raven” alone is reason enough to own this, to say nothing of all the other goodness on offer.

Sounds good, just a bit mystified by the sloppy liner notes with random chunks of text in bold for no reason. Rushed to print? Great otherwise!

does this record contain anything that is not in the no-other-box 4AD has released two or three years ago?

My copy is totally flat, sounds amazing and the liner notes are a nice bonus. This record made my day!
