Edited 12 days agoCompared two vinyl rips on the same setup of this record and of the UHQR, levels exactly matched: The UHQR has definitely some eq going on. When you listen to the tape hiss on completely silent parts the Craft is sounding even and natural. The UHQR has a treble lift and a slight suck-out in the presence region. This is reflected in the music where cymbals are hyper-detailed and the piano a bit recessed. I'm pretty sure for the Craft Kevin Gray just did his job and for the UQHR he was asked to make it more detailed. Vinyl formulation may play a minor role here but the differences point to eq. Tonally I'd prefer a midway point between those records.

Amazing, classic recording. Clean out of the sleeve, sounds phenomenal! A must have recording for any Jazz fan.

Edited 5 months agoCan confirm that this pressing is absolutely phenomenal. The detail. The clarity. The sheer magic of what happened on stage between those three musicians on that day is gifted to us in this astounding pressing and recording. Everyone should have this in their collection

Edited 8 months agoYou cannot go wrong with OJCs. If you see it - add it your collection For once I can say the reviews you read for this LP are truthful. It’s like you’re really sitting there amongst a live audience, somewhere in a bar (or I’d like to think). This is a budget audiophile record that doesn’t break the bank, yet is up there with the versions from AP and/or MoFi.

Edited 2 months agoRealism and sublime; are the I would use to describe not only this album but this pressing.
The vinyl spun near dead flat and was pretty much dead silent too!
Put this record on and you are presented with a wide open window to this performance as if you are sitting down at a bar table, hearing it in person!
And given the reasonable price (the packaging is very basic but good quality and the record is housed in a archival grade sleeve) only adds to the appeal. I can confidently say this can be included as one the best sounding 33rpm records in my collection. Just incredible! -
Superior sounding pressing, great details, bass and positioning of instruments and very little to none audible surface/background. One of the best, if not the best sounding lp that I own. Bought it from amazon and wasnt sure if I actually got a new sealed lp, because it had some smudges and a big scratch on B Side. Returned it and got a new one which is sadly a bit off center, but even that had no negative effect on the sound. As the album was remastered from the original tapes, you can hear some tape damages which is unavoidable. The UHQR might even sound better but i dont know if it can even sound that much better to be honest. A must own IMO!

Everything I could have said, has been stated here already so I'll be brief:
Outstanding pressing, super quiet. Incredibly cohearant, in the room sound. Evans piano and Scotts bass sound perfect.
There is imho absolutely no way the UHQR will trump this by a large degree. Sure it might be a tad better, but this is the pressing to go for for most people. Incredible value for the money. -

Not enough adequate superlatives to do this justice. Recording, playing, pressing, packaging are all phenomenal. A “must have” LP
