Picked one up for 50 % discount on black friday in my local record store. What a great great boxset. Mastering and pressing is just perfect ! Music is just great great great !
-
10/10 Incredible sound. Just immaculate. I can say this is the best I have ever heard these songs after years and years. It's worth every penny.

Dropped the cartridge, Dynavector XX2 and immediately it blew my mind. I had a shitty pressing from Quality Records Canadian Pressing for decades, just waiting a great reissue. GZ Media did a nice job and big groovy thumbs up to Bernie Grundman for masterful cut! This is funky groovy shit, man! Grab it!

Edited 2 years agoAbsolutely blown away, all analog cuts by Bernie Grundman on colored vinyl in poly inner sleeves, also has the War Bond insert for Black Man's Burden. HIGHLY recommend picking this up while it's still reasonable in price. You are guaranteed satisfaction! Great quality vinyl pressed at Optimal in . Puts my original pressings to shame! great balanced clear sound across all the LP's. Get this one while you can and enjoy these killer jams!

I was not happy with the mastering that was done on the War box set release of last year. The mastering was too bass heavy which drowned out a lot of the percussion and lighter instrumentation. This created a situation where a lot of the dynamics which originally made the songs attractive and head nodding good were gone. An A/B comparison with an original issue pressing from the 70s confirmed that the original mixes had seemingly been ignored. Gil Tamazyan at Capsule Labs was the mastering engineer for last year's set. The individual black vinyl pressings of these issues are basically clones of the box set issue. I bought this new Eric Burdon and War box set based upon the representation that Bernie Grundman had done the masterings for this set and I was willing to take a gamble. Imagine my surprise when I searched the set and did not find Mr. Grundman's name anywhere. I found only one mastering acknowledgment which was for Gil Tamazyan at Capsule Labs. I'm happy to report that this new box set does not seem to repeat the same mastering mistakes I think were made in last year's box set release. What I have listened to so far seems to be well balanced and clear. I did an A/B comparison with an 1970's original pressing of Love Is All Around and was pleased that the new mastering seemed to be very close to the original. This new set is a nice find. My copy of the original pressing of Love Is All Around is very noisy. I have also have been trying to obtain good copies of the originals of the other two Eric Burdon and War albums but that endeavor seems to be expensive and fraught with uncertainty as most of what I see is not graded highly by the sellers and has to be expensively shipped from Europe. I highly recommend this new set.

I was sad to open and find that the war bond that originally came with Black-Man’s Burdon was not included. Then I eventually found it inside the sleeve of Declares “War”. I wonder how they mixed that up. Anyways, sounds good and a great companion piece to the War box set from last year.

Bernie Grundman once again exceeds expectations. These albums have been beautifully mastered, cut, and packaged.

I just finished listening to the set. I don't know how it was mastered but I think it sounds great. Every record sounds smooth and the sounds comes out clear and everything comes across to the ears.. This set was well put together and it's nice to finally have clean sounding copies of these records. I'm glad it was released in a set like this.
