A wonderful 90s Ambient Techno album. So well produced for the time and showcasing some great ideas. Sender Of Humane Visions is my personal favourite, shame it's not been included in any of the remastered 2016-2018 compilations.

Absolute classic with a very unique vibe. No fillers, just superb atmospheric and melancholic electronic music from a golden era of Techno underground tunes.

And yes Hectic Bag is an absolute Leviathan of a track. Been mixing it in my sets for myself for sometime now. This would indeed decimate the floor...Peak Luke was God in Luke disguise.

In my opinion better than The Four Cornered Room, but it's a totally different sound also so not on the same level. Incredible production, sounds like no one else. The music has a "colour" or a "density" to it that only certain artists can replicate. I love it.
It's Sandra's Favorite is also my favorite. -
Edited 3 years agoDoes someone know from where the elusive voice intro on "Adapt And Go 4th" comes from? It always sounded familiar to me but I could never figure it out. As for the poster picture, although I find the colours and patterns lovely, I never could see which scene is supposed to be revealed by staring at it long enough. One of Luke Slater's best without a doubt. Sounding way better on the original vinyl than any other versions I've checked.

Edited 6 years agoI just listened again to « Hectic Bag » and its subdued dramatic power overwhelmed me even more than when it was first released, it was at the time considered as listening/chillout material but now is the time such tracks be played at peaktime and devastate dancefloors and people’s lives for good, the world is ready, this is truly exceptional.

I have had this album since release and found The 4 Cornered Room to be my favourite but that has changed and I must say that Wise Rug is truly an amazing piece of work. I really recommend this is absorbed with quality headphones. In fact I don't think it's even fair to compare the two albums as they are totally different in of production, The 4 Cornered Room nodding to Detroit and My Yellow Wise Rug firmly rooted in IDM and mostly slower. Any way you look at it you have to own both if like me you the amazing mid nineties for some of the best IDM made...

Edited 18 years agoNot quite as fantastic as 'The Four Cornered Room' but it does still have a few fantastic tracks which are well worth having. Let's face it, 'Wise Rug' costs half what 4 Cornered Room does. I never managed to make out the face of Luke Slater on the cover or the poster. And thats 2 hours later! So Luke, when are you gonna make the next 7th plain LP? You told me on the platform at London Bridge that you were gonna do some more stuff like that!
