Edited 19 years agoIf there were ever a sub-genre called glitch-pop, Lali Puna would be the ones to own it. Even from their first album, TRIDECODER, you've got the quiet melodies, clicky rhythms and Valerie's icy vocals floating atop. Melancholy permeates this album. Even the uptempo, spoken word "Rapariga Da Banheria" or the pumping house of "System On" have a quiet sense of sadness lingering in the background. "Fast Forward" brings that feeling to the forefront, and it sweeps through the entire track. Subtle, and sublime.

That first release from lali puna is a wonderful mix of sad pop melodies and well-crafted and subtle glitches made by the men from console. Valery's voice, the lead singer (singing mostly in cold, spoken words) fits perfectly with the music. That album came at a right moment, boosting the indie-electronic buzz around bands like Ladytron and Chicks On Speed. I highly recommend Valery's side project Iso68 which is darker and slower than Lali Puna.
