Edited 4 months agoThis pressing sounds huge on my rig, especially the lead vocals, and the drums and bass are a revelation. My system doesn’t have a subwoofer, so I’m guessing the complaints about too much bass are with stereos that do.
I have both an OG US pressing and an original UK LP as well, but this mastering reveals many layers that are a bit buried on those two. -
Compared to an early US/Sire pressing that I have, this LP sounds bassier and a bit dull or veiled. The sound of the early pressing just "pops" more and has noticeably better high-frequency detail; this new pressing sounds a bit flat by comparison. It's not terrible, just not quite as good. My copy also has bad non-fill on a couple tracks, but because I wasn't wowed by the mastering/sound quality, I didn't bother trying to exchange it for one without non-fill.

Way superior to the MOFI release - I don’t what the hell happened there. Pressing is quite and fiat. Brass in Pocket sounds incredible - in particular the bass, which oozes in and out. Dirt cheap by most standards, so grab it while you can.

Fantastic pressing. Super quiet vinyl. Chrissies vocals sound amazing. Great separation on the instruments.
