I've claimed the Kinks as my favorite band since 1988, when I first started digging into their catalog. But this is easily my least favorite album by the group. There are a few songs I like, including "Scum Of The Earth", "He's Evil", "Flash's Confession" and "Salvation Road". But overall, this is the only Kinks album that I find remotely tedious. It's just too bloated, and the majority of the songs aren't memorable. This 1974 pressing is on those super-lightweight Dynaflex records, there are a couple of instances of sibilance, but otherwise it sounds pretty good, with plenty of bass, and solid range from top to bottom. My copy plays with light surface noise here and there, and there is the faintest of feelers on "Introduction to Solution" but it causes several skips.
