Notes
First issue with twin logo over a red dragon on the labels.
Inner sleeve is black paper over plastic polyethylene, white Virgin logo and data over black background.
On center label side B, track B5 is divided in two parts numbered 5 (Muddy Mouse (c)) and 6 (Muddy Mouth), but is actually only one band on the vinyl. On the record sleeve, track B5 is listed as "Muddy Mouse (c) which in turn leads to Muddy Mouth" (with the two song titles "Muddy Mouse (c)" and "Muddy Mouth" in italics) indicating that this track is two songs that segue (the linking phrase "which in turn leads to" being a reference to a lyric from Muddy Mouth).

Relative to Rock Bottom, this album contains a hypnotic quality I find captivating, and which I find myself returning to again and again.

I don't see it mentioned here - but the back cover of my copy (in hand) is rotated 90 degrees from the front cover's orientation. Don't know if this is part of all copies or if it's an anomaly.

Robert Wyatt's previous album to this is rightly held up as one of the best albums ever made. I was too young to know this music when it was first realeased and only came to Robert Wyatt much later in life. Ruth... received luke warm reviews on release; it is a totally unique album that defied comparison at the time. In retrospect it is this album and not Rock Bottom which points the way to his future music. Lots of songs, lots of collaboration and an introduction to what would be called world music. This is a great album.
