Edited 19 years agoOf all of the On-U Sound label collections this is probably the definitive sampler as it contains such a wide range of good music. Some of the best output of the Strange Parcels is here ('Disconnection' and 'To Be Free') alongside fine examples from Dub Syndicate, Gary Clail, Jesse Rae and African Head Charge.
The content trips merrily across the musical spectrum, from straight dub (Dub Syndicate) through spoken word (Little Annie) to dance beats (Strange Connection) then funk (Jesse Rae) and off into orbit (Barmy Army).
This compilation is like a time capsule for the best of the On-U label. A few of the tracks (e.g. the Strange Parcels offerings) are not available elsewhere. This one is strongly recommended either as an introduction to the label or as a collectors' piece for the rarer tracks.
