Reviews

Edited one year agoI’m afraid I have to add to the poor reviews. The first track on both discs skips, there’s an underlying noise like a plane flying overhead, particularly on the second disc and the hole on the first disc is way off centre. On the plus side, they look really good. Can’t imagine me choosing to listen to this over the CD very often though, and it wouldn’t be easy to offload them, knowing the imperfections. I’ll put this down as a poor record fair impulse buy.
-
This is a horrible pressing. DO NOT buy. Total rip off. The first track on both sides of each vinyl skips. Unbelievably disappointed.
-
Masterpiece of an album. Boring AF picture discs. An actual pic would have been cool. This was purely a money grab from The Prince Estate 💜
-
High quality pressing to my ears, almost no imperfections and what few there were sounded just like every new vinyl I’ve heard. I understand the stigma of playing picture discs but everyone here is going a little overboard on this one. Worth the price to me, very satisfied.
-
Excellent pressing as always from Optimal. Not sure who’s pressed the ones being complained about on here. A triumph
-
The discs do look fantastic, but the pressing is poor. Lots of scraping and popping, like somebody is shoveling gravel in the room. This is more a novelty buy for the collection and not one for listening to.
-
The picture discs look great, but they sound absolutely terrible. On all four sides there is some kind of background noise that ruins everything. So I will hang this on my wall - but it will never play on my turntable again!
-
So I bought this fprior to seeing the reviews on Discogs. I thought to myself "Oh it can't be that bad."
I was wrong and it is. You ever been in a building with one of those ancient air conditioning units that makes an absolute racket? Imagine one of those playing out of both speakers alongside the music. What a sad, sad day it is. If Heaven does exist, I imagine Prince is looking down at this pressing with shame. Also the LPs have razor edges similar to a bootleg so enjoy that a well.
Seriously this pressing is just dog-shite. -
This pressing is trash. And couldn't the vinyl have used fresh pics by Jeff Kat during the SOTT era? Junk.
-
What an awful pressing, that does a terrible injustice to this most majestic of albums. I can only imagine Prince's dismay, as he gazes down from the sanctified palace of funk heaven upon us foolish mortals, and sees us queuing up on Record Store Day, to buy another batch of overpriced garbage pressings of seminal albums!!
