Edited one year agoAhh "Discothèque", 1997 (27 years ago!), the last time we get a great batch of mixes by Mr. Morales for a U2 song. The "DM Deep Extended Club Mix" was of course the floor filler back in the day, with those punchy (sampled) "Plastic Dreams" beats.....Undoubtedly it was David's mixes that made this a #1 Club Hit in the U.S. His "Tec" mix had more in common with the “Original 12"” and “Album Version”, while the real gem that has been overlooked here is the "DM Deep Instrumental Mix"—can somebody say "Redzone"?! This is no mear instrumental, it is a blissful (electronic) flute infused “closer”, best saved for the end of a very long sweaty night of dancing your ass off at the (you guessed it) "Discothèque".
