Regardless of what anyone says--including the band--this is the best Screeching Weasel record. This is what they actually sounded like during their most fun, Northwest suburban Chicago period. After two LPs which were sprawling stylistic mishmashes, this out-of-tune and likably imprecise record captures the young band who have just found their formula. Punkhouse is my favorite Screeching Weasel record, hands down. The fact that they would get so slick and boring just emphasizes how great this record is, and if you own just one record by them, this is the one to have. It's too bad they couldn't get a whole LP out at this stage. Listen to the cut This Bud's For Me off that MRR comp. This line up of the band was the greatest.
