Hello. I have to write because something like this happened to me. In 2023 I bought this edition and it arrived with a polished edge, unfortunately only on the damaged side. As if someone had repaired it after it had fallen on the floor. I sent it back as damaged. This year I bought another one and surprisingly it was sent identical to the one I bought in 2023. With identical damage and polishing on the damaged side. Is this a manufacturing defect or did I get a dishonest seller? What do your red LPs look like? Are they also polished and have an uneven and non-round edge? Best regards

It's being re-released in black vinyl. Might be a good opportunity to get a copy for retail prices.

Mind-blowing remastering on this release. A little noisy in places, but it’s an audiophile reference recording.

Enigma – MCMXC A.D.
Label: Universal Music Group – 573 723 1, Universal Music Group – 5737231
Series: The Colours Of Enigma – I
Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, Remastered, Red Translucent, 180Gr
Country: Europe
Released: 04 May 2018
Bought all of the European 'Colours...' editions so going through them one by one.
Absolutely beautiful sound quality. No faults. Warmer, nicer presence and a fuller more lively sound on vinyl than on the CD I had. Don't know how it compares to earlier vinyl editions, but would happily buy this remastered edition again.

Fantastic vinyl, my favorite album by Enigma.
But man, it seems like there was a bit of QC issue. Mine plays without a hitch most of the time, and then there's this awful popping that comes in at some points, and it seems like there's nothing I can do to get rid of it.
As much as I love this vinyl, especially the beautiful red vinyl...the fact that I spent quite a bit of money on a brand new one, only to get one that pops and crackles, is genuinely disheartening.

Edited 4 years agoPop, hiss, pop..... Terrible quality control. Looks like someone went over one of the tracks with sandpaper.
Edit: After repeated deep cleanings and storage in a poly sleeve the record is significantly less noisy. -
Superb pressing. Good mastering, sounds really amazing. No cracks, or other background garbage. Definitely recommend to purchase.
-
Super pressing! WAAAYYYY better than the CD. Ultra wide dynamics and dead quiet vinyl. Worth every penny.

Edited 6 years agoMy copy sounds fantastic.
Quiet, crackle free background and great depth to the soundstage.
Amazing detail in the synths as well as the vocals.
This pressing sounds great 😀 👍
I have only ever owned this on C.D so my comparison is to that. -
After reading the reviews here, I wasn't expecting too much after a clean on the vacuum RCM. To my surprise, my copy is dead quiet with not a pop or crackle through both sides. Sound quality of this master is excellent to my ears though it's a long time since I listened to the original vinyl. Overall, a very good release though I do agree with an earlier comment that the artwork would have been better if they'd retained the original.
