Edited one month agoThis record is Phat, but the VMP press sounds a little more full. I don’t usually think that but this is a digital remaster. Without a doubt the best track listing. It sounds perfect but I’m always going to prefer analog masters. Record still supa 🔥

For a digital remaster this pressing sounds really good.. bass is booming - it slaps. "Fakin' the funk" is on this too!. Quiet throughout.

After I made my purchase, I saw the reviews that other people had left regarding this pressing and I started to regret my purchase. My rationale behind choosing this album over other versions was that it was only edition which included Fakin' The Funk and Think.
Finally had the chance to sit down and listen to it in its entirety and I have to say that I'm really pleased with the pressing.
Disc 1 has the slightest warp however it does not affect sound quality at all. I did notice some of the surface noise that other people mentioned however it was only really noticeable in between and during some parts the first couple of tracks on Side B.
Disc 2 was great, no warp or surface noise at all for me.
Overall, I think the pressing is quite good 7.5/10. I enjoy the blue transparency and the extra bonus tracks that other versions do not have. -
Don't own this pressing myself, but was curious about it. An acquaintance did me the favor of providing me with an FLAC rip of side A, and wow! Based on that listening experience and other comments here, I would steer well clear of this pressing. Clearly audible and very annoying surface noise. FWIW, the early reissues (1995 and circa 2000) sound great and can be obtained at reasonable enough prices.

I guess i got lucky, very little surface noise, crystal clear......some guy named Paul C signed the cover of mine???
Just playin'. PAUL C LIVES -
Edited 7 years agoMy copy came with a ton of surface noise, pops and clicks especially Side A and B. Am I the only one that has this issue? 2/5 for quality 5/5 for the album.
