Just dropping in to say how fantastic these are. I have made it through the 4 sides of the 2024 Remix and they sound phenomenal. Not a single tick, low noise floor, dynamic and full. The remix itself is nice in some parts, but the mandolin in Estonia seems to be further down than the original mix. Regardless, the sound quality makes this a wonderful listen. Play it loud! -
Surely this should say 4CD + 1BD shouldn't it? Not two.

Edited 9 months agoWell Estonia is not really a pop song. The rest of the album is really good. It actually sounds more like what Holidays in Eden could have been if produced differently. There is a bluesy mood to this album which make it really outstandinf compared to the rest of their discography. Only drawback is the mix and the mastering. They are really awfull, especially the drum sound -

Edited 7 months agoOn a drive to fill the gaps in my collection. So brought this which I basically forgot they did. Glad I got it, this is a very good record and if you like later Marillion you'll like this.
Only thing I don't like about this is a live version of Estonia being added. I can only assume to use all side of the second disc, but I could have survived without.
Pressing wise its nice and quiet and no issues seen. Overall very happy here.

I really hate the choice of adding a live version of Estonia at the end of side C. This ruins the flow of the album They should have opted for an etched D side or kept This Strange Engine on side C and moved the Estonia live recording to side D.
This said the mastering is very good and the vinyl is dead quiet with lots of dynamics.
As for the album, it is one of the very best theybhave release with only one song which should have been left out the aforementioned Hope for the Future
