I have a been a big fan of this album since it came out. This pressing has a lot of punch and clarity so the vinyl does not detract from the sound quality. At least as good as my original US Pitman which I still think is pretty good. Nice to have Basing Street flip side of Switchboard Susan single and Endless Grey Ribbon from the UK album. Would like to see how it sounds v. UK or US Promo. UK is considered the go to. However Vic Anesini mastered the US album so I doubt there is a significant drop off if there is one. This one is a keeper. -
Edited one year agoNo matter what it says anywhere: NO tracks from this album were recorded at "Love Studios, Helsinki, Finland" - that's nothing but a hoax! Nick had actually recorded there, but that stuff hasn't been released to this very day (let alone on this album).

A stunning soundstage on this original UK pressing. While the USA press is excellent I found this one slightly better due to a bit more slam in the bottom end and overall transparency. Both are fantastic but this one gets my vote overall others including the crappy sounding modern repressed which sound sterile -
Such a great rock & roll album from start to finish. I prefer the US pressing, with "American Squirm" replacing "Endless Grey Ribbon". This pressing sounds pretty good, with ample low end, crisp vocals, crunchy guitars, and booming drums. My copy is in excellent condition, and plays nice and clean with no noticeable surface noise. -

Edited 8 years agoI heard "Cruel To Be Kind" at Gustav's Pub & Grill German restaurant in Portland, OR. Real random. We've been going there since the mid-1990s. -
Every song is a gem - funny lyrics, great arrangements. Rockpile at their best! Despite having to include the 2 'bonus' tracks, Vic Anesini did a nice job mastering the vinyl. -

My copy has columbia overpainted on sleeve, on the label there is a black sticker covering colombia. WHY???
