The Teardrop Explodes – Kilimanjaro

This version of Kilimanjaro seems to be a very special anomalous mistake. It appears to be a collection of studio / monitor mixes that somehow made it onto CD - who knows how, maybe the wrong masters were sent out to Skyclad.
As far as I can tell every track is a slightly different mix from the versions that made it to the original vinyl. Most of the mixes on this CD are bass guitar heavy, and some mix differences are more obvious than others - extra guitar textures on some songs for example.
There are slight volume changes on three tracks which suggests that someone was riding the desk faders while playing out to a master tape, which is why I think these were test mixes before the final production masters were made.
If you like Kilimanjaro, and especially the bass lines, I would recommend this CD. The mixing differences are subtle but worth a listen, and this version of Suffocate is excellent (different version to that on Everybody Wants To Shag), as is the alternative start to Reward.

When I Dream is the bigger hit to me than Treason. Incredibly catchy new wave earworm-- Can't understand why it didn't chart.

Anybody else notice that the "Chameleons" is misspelled on the disc label: no "h"? My side 2 has an extra label sloppily/partially stuck atop the first one.

My copy has a red inner sleeve and the light blue labels featuring the red/white mountain ... cant seem to find this listed

The version of "Treason" on this pressing is the original non-remixed version (whereas the version that appeared on the "zebra" cover reissue originally was the one that was remixed). So, if you're buying this and expecting to hear the remixed version, you might be in for a surprise. Also, side two of my copy has loads of persistent and fairly loud surface noise.
