‘Distant Hills’ was the music played over the closing credits of the TV series Crown Court.
The music many of us is that played over the opening credits which was the fourth movement of Janacek’s Sinfonietta. The recording used was by the Pro Arte Orchestra, a London recording orchestra, conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras, originally on Pye records. -
I must have listened to this lovely tune 100s of times, and have always thought it was a mono recording. But after listening to it today on headphones (presumably for the first time) I've realised that the last 6 seconds, and only the last 6 seconds, are in stereo! What an inspired production choice and an awesome effect. Mind blown!
