My copy has a whooshing sound on every rotation that completely ruins the first LP. Should've bought the CD.

Looks like you can get the CD direct from the label for $15 plus shipping.

Obviously not the format the album's intended for, but they've mixed new endings and beginnings for each movement. If you didn't know any better, you'd think this was how the album was intended to sound! This master is airy when it needs to be, punchy when the moment comes. The trifold is a bit inconvenient to work with but the design is nice so I don't mind. About as good as you're gonna get with this album on vinyl.

I washed my copy with dish soap and a paint brush then dried it with a microfiber. Very little surface noise after that. Some records are just grimy and static charged from the factory. The crappy paper sleeves do not help.

After all that it sounds exactly as it's supposed to, to my ears. It's stoner metal, ambient, drone, chugging. It's purposely grimey and buried, distorted. Wata's guitar tones sound like a distant demon summoning you from the ether. Just as it's supposed to be.

I really hope they repress this on CD. Makes more sense for the music, and the vinyl doesn't have locked grooves for continuity like er.

I've given this album 2 spins so far. The first spin wasn't ideal as there was more surface noise than I would've liked and Flood 1 in particular was popping and cracking throughout. The 2nd spin however, that just wasn't the case. It was almost entirely silent and there was barely any surface noise that I could hear. I will state however that even on this 2nd spin there were a few pops, but they were infrequent enough, not as loud as the first time I put this on the turntable, and did not ruin the music for me. All in all I'd still recommend this pressing even with some of its faults, it sounds great all around on the 2nd spin and the packaging for this thing is just straight up stunning. 4/5 stars
