Never heard this before...Sonic and silver is good track, rest's ok, very commercial, but I guess that was the sound at the time.. Signature hospital V Recordings etc

Edited one year agoIt appears there are varying opinions on this one. Controversial music usually tilts to the good. Solid release. I this EP as four tracks that I equally enjoyed. I can't say that about most of the double packs in my collection.

Edited 7 years agoaverage at best. Sonic and Silver do the biz with under the sun, but there's better offerings out there even for that tune. 3am... please... The late great Marcus should not be ed for bringing us that colab. I question how much of MI's influence there is in that one anyway, feels far more High Contrast than Marcus

Edited 17 years ago3am is overrated. I'm really not a fan at all. It has good bits to it, it's just not put together very well.
The big gem here is Under The Sun. If there was ever a track to remind you of a nice summer afternoon by the beach it's this. Just a chill track with some beautiful drawn out guitar bits that sound spectacular. If you like this, check out Barbie Q by Syncopix on the Phunkfiction label.
Deepee is another nice chill piece. More of a soulful work with a funky beat and nice string bass. Goes along with with other jazzy liquid funk tracks.
Sunshine (Touch Me) is more like 3am. It's pretty good, but something just isn't right about it. I'm not a big fan. It just doesn't seem well put together.

Edited 6 years agoReviewing 'Under The Sun'
The stagnant stifling heat, taking the form of a deep warm analogue bass and pounding percussion, scorches the parched landscape beneath. Intermittently irrigated by cool melodic droplets of strings, all elements eventually succumb to the lethargy of brass notes that see everything perfectly still for the shimmering interlude. A sumptuous tune and arguably Sonic & Silver's finest moment.
Fabio played 'Under The Sun' for some two years before it finally received a release. It always seemed somewhat out of place on this EP of contemporary anthems which pale next to it.

Pretty patchy although still worth a look..
3am's probably the most overrated track of the last year (along with Midnight by Uncut).. Considering the production pedigree of both M.I.S.T and High Contrast it should have been amazing. -Definately a sum lesser than it's parts. Great sample, great sounds and a horrid clumping breakbeat that's totally innapropriate in a musical track such as this.
I think the real highlight here's the Total Science track, 'Dee Pee.' Although blatently based around a huge chunk of 'Drop Bear' by DJ Die on Full Cycle, play it out and full suddenly realise your floors full of girls, smiling. And that's always a good thing. Genuinely uplifting. -
Do yourself and favour and pick up this vinyl, "3am" has to be one of the best dnb tracks i've heard in a long while.
