Beautiful music. Very good sounding record as well. Must have for Lee Morgan fans.

These early 1970s mono reissues, speculated to be made for the Japanese export market, are a really cost effective way to get this album in mono without breaking the bank. It’s not mastered by Rudy Van Gelder but it is mastered from his analog copy tape, so the sound is really nice. This is a really great early bop release by Lee Morgan with a very cool cover. -

Clear, vibrant bass. Snares and rim shots pop. Snares and lower drums are slightly muffled. Full piano tone, much better than what I expect from Blue Note. Morgan's trumpet recorded crisp and clear. Probably the quietest vinyl in my collection, including the run-outs. Beautiful artwork, including extraordinary photos of Lee Morgan at age 18, not to mention a very young-looking Horace Silver. Musically, this is not special, but it has its moments. I am a big Lee Morgan fan, so I wanted this to fill out my collection. Morgan is very good on this record, although not quite at his best. Strong hard bop vibes. There are many moments here that will remind you of favorite Lee Morgan tracks, and that perhaps tells me that over time and with repeated hearings, my appreciation of this album will grow. -
