Very disappointing edition of this masterpiece. Heavy anti noise filter tools have been used, affecting heavily the sound footprint. In some point are clearly audible compression/filters artifacts. Very very bad!
Even worst is that the versions of "SPACE ROCK" and "ASTROLIGHTS" are not the same versions recorded on the original LP and MC cassette.
The last several seconds of the fade-out at the end of the tracks are respectless cut. On fantastic tracks like ASTROLIGHTS, COSMIC RACE, SCI FI BOOGIE, ELECTRO VOICE, the last precious part of the fading melody or sounds is lost.
The respectless cutting of the fade in/out is done to hide the background noise coming from the original analogue tape recording, but I would like listen that few noise, rather than to cut out notes of the original composition!
The only nice part of this edition is the graphic printed on the CD surface, figuring the original logo and picture of the "Rockland", the original record company of the Rockets.
It is shameful, that there is still not a decent remastered edition of the most important and most unique masterpiece of the Rockets (Jan. 2020). -
Edited 2 years agoAhhh yes, another OFFICIAL (!) vinyl record with the audio sourced (for the umpteenth time) from the 2007 "The silver years" CDs, which in turn were mastered by the 2000s de-noised russian vinyl rip bootlegs.
Once again I can perfectly hear the exact same de-noising artifacts and even the micro-gaps between tracks that are present in those discs.
At this point, it seems that the original master tapes are lost... -

Amazing album and sound. I didn't hear French and Canadian releases though. In any case it is way better than CD version. -
Edited 6 years agoThis vinyl issue is not remastered from the "original analogue master tapes" as they claim, but from the audio tracks of the previously released CDs from 2014 "Space Rock: Greatest Hits" : https://discogs.descargarpelis.net/it/Rockets-Space-Rock-Greatest-Hits-/release/5818623
