After putting out a brave effort in "Reaching For The World", "Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes" continued that brave effort with the release of "Now Is The Time"....But as with "Reaching", it still falls a little short...

As usual though, there are bright moments....

"Where's The Concern For The People" (the start of the album and yes a Crown Jewel), is a very nice Social Conscience piece, with well thought out Lyrics....

"Baby, You Got My Nose Open" may be kind of cheesy, but the Music is infectious (which makes it hard to ignore)..."David Ebo" also sells the song very well, even though at times he sounds like he is trying too hard....

The 2nd Crown Jewel, "Let's Talk It Over", is more like it!!!! It is Classic Blue Notes, with "Harold" (believe it or not), having one of his best performances ever!!!!!

The "Title Track", the 3rd Crown Jewel, is another "Classic Blue Note" t, with "David Ebo" sounding much more comfortable than ever, since he ed the group....

The last song and Crown Jewel, "Try To Live A Day", invites "Ms. Sharon Paige" back (again, why not on the cover?!?!?!?!?!?!), and together with "Harold" and "David", they laid another "Classic Blue Note" t....

The rest of the album is filler...

I will say this though...It seemed like "Harold" had a better hold on the group and the direction it was going...Unfortunately, the Public didn't agree...The world would be enthrawed with "Teddy Pendergrass", and it would seem like "Harold" and "The Blue Notes" just didn't stand a chance...

I will say this though, even though the album is uneven, it it still worth checking out.....

S1 starts funky and quick, cool. Listen to the base on track two. Let’s talk it over is a fantastic song with spoken word. Sounds like teddy is singing it with soul. David Ebo was a worth replacement to teddy. S2 start slow the next track is quick. They really change it up well. Power of love takes you to church. Considering this is the second album without Teddy, the quality is so high and the singing is terrific. This is an awesome album

Technically this is not a "PROMO" Item, I have always called these "Stamped Promo" but they have no more value than a cutout (hole punched through the cover and sometimes record in the label area)... these items are just freebies for record stores, DJs, etc and are exactly the same as regular sold records with this added stamped desecration..
