Gapul

Profile:

Gapul (means Pulga reversed) is a pirate label and distributor from Argentina. Used to release compilations as licensed "covers", but they were all originals, in 6 tracks by each LP or cassette, becoming a "Cult-label" between South American DJs.
According to its founder Alejandro Tamola, the label began in 1978 as an importer and distributor of European vinyl, but the first albums appeared around '81, the label lasted until '93, where probably due to changes in sound and musical styles, the arrival of direct imports from abroad and the appearance of competitors more up to date with the music of that time, it ended up disappearing.
However, its classic phase (1984 to 1986), with a more Italo-disco sound, remains its most memorable.
