American record label focussing on hip hop / black music. Owned by entertainment attorney and artist manager Blackground Entertainment until 2000, it switched distribution deals over time - releases were previously distributed by Jive, Atlantic, Virgin and Universal Motown.
Reportedly dormant since 2013, after an aborted campaign to release new music by Drake.
