I love this label, the packaging is great and the sound is fantastic, I own quite a few titles on this label and can't wait to add more to my collection.

Follow up to my previous comments. Jazz Images are very clean and flat pressing and very nice sounding.
But I just listened back to back to: a Tone Poet release by Wayne Shorter (Amazing sound) and a similar vintage album on Jazz Images - very nice sound but compared to the TP it was quite boring and lost my attention.
Nevertheless very good value if a particular release isn't available on a more audiophile label

These public domain labels don't have access to the original master tapes. What you get is a CD pressed on vinyl. I wondering why people can be satisfied with this kind of quality. Take some Miles Davis original records and compare them with these cheap pressings. Yes, the sound is really cheap compared to a record sourced from original master tape.

So, after the shitstorm critics gained here by the last 6-7 comments I would like to add another negative issue about "Jazz Images" and relatives of this Spanish label group, as so "Essential Jazz Classics" , "20th Century Masterworks" and "Fresh Sound Records".
I had in the last few weeks a couple of vinyl and CDs from that company on my desk and let it say that way: yes, there is a quality issue. Vinyl may be flat but not "dead quiet", definitely. "Cracklin' Rosie" all around. No cleaning done, I expect not such a noise from a new vinyl.
For CD: an even more severe same quality issue: mechanically micro-damaged surface on the plastic information carrier side before the alumina coating step! And a LOT of pinholes and black dirt particles molten in the plastic. And micro-scratches on top. And small convex lenses in the plastic, causin skipping! Never seen before! I can't anytime in the last 30 years when a CD fresh from store skipped! No idea where they let manufacture their CDs but their quality control is under par! A, I see.....MPO in Spain.....no comment.
          Not really recommended.
On the other hand: they offer a lot of material you hardly find elsewhere.

I have 2 Jazz Images. So far so good. For the price these are great value. I typically purchase Music Matters, Analog Productions, Tone Poet, etc.. at 3 to 5 times the price of Jazz Images.
The Jazz Images have an ever so slightly less dynamic sound with a slightly flatter soundstage. But the pressing is silent and the packaging is really nice which makes for a really pleasant listening experience. For the price, these are absolutely great.

Never had a bad pressing, always flat, always clean and quiet

I bought 2 of the jazz images this weekend. Moanin and something else. I thought they were kinda reissued from the mastertapes. Apparently not. The sound imho is impeccable! I have a very good stereoset and was amazed by the fact they sound deadquiet and very dynamic. Don’t get fooled bij the fact they are not originals......superb sound and superb packaging

I haven't had a poor pressing from Jazz Images yet. They do an excellent job and as far as the sourced audio quality rumors, just do your research. The label was founded under the parent label Elemental Music which is co-founded by Zev Feldman a well respected Jazz archival producer and sound engineer. Just look him up online and you'll realize that the pressings are legit.

I own the Gil Evans - Out Of The Cool as well as Max Roach - We Insist ! as vinyl and the Eric Dolphy - Outward Bound 2 CD from Jazz Images.
The vinyl is excellent in my humble opinion. Very good sound. Clean pressing.Nice artwork. Overall a very good presentation. And all this at an affordable price.
The Eric Dolphy CD`s are also excellent. 4 diverse recordings on 2 CD`s.
Personally, I am absolutely satisfied with the Jazz Images label.

I don't get the bad reviews on here. These are excellent pressings at a fantastic price. There is just NO reason for any vinyl to cost more than $15 max, and Jazz Images more than satisfies the audiophile listener at a decent price. There will always be those with unreasonably discriminating standards, but unless you've got some insane sound system and dog hearing, I doubt you'd be able to tell any difference. I'm getting all my jazz from this label.
